Title I, Part A – Improving Basic Programs

Purpose of Title I, Part A

Title I, Part A is a federally funded program under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) that provides financial assistance to local educational agencies to ensure that all children have a fair, equitable, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education. The program focuses on helping students meet the challenging academic standards set by the state and closing achievement gaps among student groups.


Use of Funds

At Greenwood Independent School District, Title I, Part A funds are used to support academic interventions and strengthen instruction across all campuses.
Funds are utilized to provide:

  • Interventionists who deliver targeted instruction for students needing additional academic support.

  • Instructional Coaches who assist teachers in implementing effective instructional strategies, analyzing data, and improving classroom practices.

These efforts ensure that every student receives the support necessary to achieve academic success. 


Campuses Served

All Greenwood ISD campuses receive Title I, Part A services:

  • Greenwood High School

  • James R. Brooks Middle School

  • Greenwood Intermediate School

  • Greenwood Elementary School
